The Lumen Planus is designed for use on a flat or low pitch roof construction including lead, zinc sheet, copper and asphaltic material. The rooflight benefits from the fine lines of steel ensuring maximum daylight with the minimum amount of framework.
Our rooflights for flat roof applications are manufactured from a CR4 mild steel with a PZ790 powder coat as standard or can be upgraded to a grade 316 stainless steel to ensure maximum protection against the elements and standing water. The frames are painted to RAL9005 black.
The range can be manufactured using the Conservation design or utilise many of the benefits of the Evo range. The stock sizes are supplied with a high specification of Pilkington glazing, unique locking system, trickle ventilation and American Ash interior liner.
Smaller casements are supplied manually opening. For sizes larger than 1200mm x 1200mm it is necessary to have opening casements electrically operated.

Client Drawing/Large Bespoke Rooflight With Actuators
Our brief was to manufacture a rooflight for a new flat roof extension which would be the kitchen area of a property in Berkshire. The installing contractors supplied a drawing of their required design and our team came up with the solution. At over 8 metres in length and 1.2 metres high, the rooflight had to comprise of both opening and fixed casements. The design was then altered when the client requested that roof light had just 4 casements sections, 2 of which needed to open. To ensure the casements could open we chose to use KA66 twin chain drive electric actuators with a 350mm stroke length.
Flat rooflight With Opening Casement
This rooflight was supplied as the smallest of a pair of opening flat rooflights. Both were supplied to a residential project in Gloucestershire. The client wanted to maximise the amount of natural daylight into the property and to have them both opening for ventilation. At 1500mm x 1500mm, the second rooflight was the largest that we have supplied with manually operated winders. The drawing here shows the location of the casement and how the flat rooflight is fixed to the up stand section.
Small Fixed Skylight
The client originally enquired about our Lumen conservation rooflight but then switched to the flat rooflight design due to the shallow pitch. In addition the rooflight was to be fixed shut with the inclusion of a trickle vent. As with our conservation skylight, the top section forms part of the overall frame to give the appearance of a casement. By having a continuous piece there is no opportunity for water to penetrate the casement.
