Introduction

Forms of Nature Chandelier is an extraordinary piece of art that combines nature-inspired design with impressive lighting effects. This unique chandelier consists of intricate branches, leaves, and flowers that are made of lightweight white polycarbonate, which create an elegant and poetic atmosphere. The Forms of Nature Chandelier is designed by Danish designer Hilden & Diaz and has gained international recognition for its innovative design and stunning beauty. In this article, we will explore the background, inspiration, and design features of this beautiful chandelier.

Background

The Forms of Nature Chandelier was first introduced in 2013 and has since then gained widespread attention and admiration for its beautiful design. The chandelier was designed by Hilden & Diaz, a Copenhagen-based design studio established in 2009 by Thyra Hilden and Pio Diaz. The duo specializes in creating installations, sculptures, and public art projects that explore the boundaries between technology, nature, and humanity.

The project was commissioned by Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary (TBA21) as part of their ongoing exhibition series that focuses on art, science, and technology. The chandelier was first exhibited at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary museum in Vienna and was later displayed in various galleries and museums around the world.

Inspiration

The Forms of Nature Chandelier is inspired by the organic forms and patterns found in nature, particularly in the intricate shapes of trees, plants, and flowers. The designers spent months studying and photographing organic elements, such as specimens from botanical gardens and parks, to capture the essence of their forms and shapes.

The result is a chandelier that resembles a canopy of trees, with branches, flowers, and leaves that intertwine and create a mesmerizing visual effect. The chandelier is designed to be viewed from different angles, and each perspective reveals new details and patterns.

Design Features

The Forms of Nature Chandelier consists of 3,000 individually printed polycarbonate pieces that are assembled by hand to create a three-dimensional structure. The chandelier is illuminated by 168 LED lights, which are carefully placed to create a warm and intimate atmosphere.

The chandelier is available in two sizes, with a diameter of 85cm or 155cm, and can be used as a central piece or combined to create a dramatic effect.

The Forms of Nature Chandelier is not only a beautiful piece of art but also an eco-friendly lighting solution. The use of lightweight polycarbonate reduces the weight of the chandelier, which makes it easier to install and reduces the environmental impact of transportation. The LED lights are energy-efficient and have a long lifespan, making the chandelier a sustainable and cost-effective lighting solution.
